A few good words blog.

We poured our 2017 Estate Pinot Noir for the first time last Wednesday at Compass Wines. If you are unfamiliar with Compass, all you need to know is that they were voted Seattle's Best Wine Shop in 2016...and they are located in Anacortes! Doug and his team have spent the better part of 2 decades creating a very special wine shop that caters to all wine lovers.

Needless to say we made some fans with this wine's debut. Check out what Compass had to say about this very special wine. If you are a Compass customer be sure to order some from the shop. "For those who poo-poo the Puget Sound appellation, please take note. Pinot Noir is here to stay in Western Washington. We have seen some beautiful examples from here in the past (Whidbey Island Winery, Hollywood Hills and Challenger Ridge clone 667, for example), for the most part, they have been tiny production, and evaporated almost immediately from the marketplace. However, there is a new kid on the block with some serious gumption to make a statement and they have. Bayernmoor is a new family winery about 45 minutes from the shop. They have been customers here for years, so we have known about this project since its inception. World class Pinot is the goal here. Very specific clonal selection, using an extremely gifted Brian Carter to make the wines and meticulous enough to actually discard the first few vintages instead of releasing them to the market. We were the first to taste the inaugural vintage of 2017 Estate Pinot Noir and pretty much knocked over by its stylish elegance. Beautiful notes of strawberry, orange rind, fresh mown hay and red currants on the bush. Medium bodied with crisp acids, like a real Pinot Noir should be. When we blind tasted an experienced wine professional on it his response was perfect. ’I am so confused! It has the mouthfeel of Burgundy and clearly not Oregon, but what the hell is it? I am so impressed!’"
