Big and balanced aren't two words that normally go together. However, this wine is both of those things. Big - aged for 22 months in 100% French oak (65% new), nice and round tannins, and big flavor. Balanced - great acidity, fruit forward nose, and 13.8% alcohol. Notes of mocha, kirsch, and violets on the nose. The palate doubles down on mocha and is backed by black cherry and plum. Sourced solely from the striking Destiny Ridge Vineyard in Horse Heaven Hills. Drink now or lay down for years to come. Due to such limited quantities this wine has been moved to our library and has been priced accordingly.
Destiny Ridge vineyard is one of the crown jewels of the Horse Heaven Hills AVA. The vineyard is 267 acres and is home to 23 varietals. The grapes planted in the South-facing slopes of the HHH benefit from strong winds that arrive from the West via the Columbia River Gorge. The wind reduces the likelihood of rot and fungal diseases taking hold and the slope combines with the wind to keep frost at bay. The vineyard is a unique composition of 5 types of topography - clay, limestone, schist (medium sized mineral rocks), and gravel along with sandy top soils.
Aged 22 months in 100% French Oak - 65% New, 35% Neutral
